Pokémonplayers have long made their way through expansive game locations based on real places around the world. But Nintendo is now taking it to another level, developing a game in which players can catch Pokémon in their back garden and battle it out in the real world.

Iconic Japanese gaming brand Pokémon has been around for 20 years now, but its latest launches –Pokémon SunandPokémon Moon –prove that it's as relevant to kids today as it ever was. Enabling play across cultures and languages, it’s ideal for the increasing number of ‘global citizens'.

The 'Twitch plays Pokemon' live stream handed control over to the viewers - at times up to 150,000 people were attempting to input commands at once. The crowdsourced approach to gaming was a success, with the game beaten within a week.
