Assistant professor and qualitative researcher on identity of Black women
Dr. Nicole Dezrea Jenkins is an assistant professor at Howard University and a qualitative researcher known for her work on the complex identity-making processes of Black women, with a focus on the African Diaspora. She received the prestigious Princeton University Press Supportive Diverse Voices Book Proposal Development Grant, supporting her first book project. Dr. Jenkins' Global Crowns research project explores natural hair discrimination worldwide, amplifying the voices of Black women. She also serves as a faculty advisor for the Mothers of the Mecca Research Initiative at Howard University, furthering research on the experiences of students who are parents.
