The smart kettle, created by startup Load & Road, customizes cups of tea by adjusting brewing conditions. With integrated IoT, the home device collects data via different sensors and brews based on tea type, the users physical state such as heart rate or body temperature and environmental factors like room temperature, brightness humidity and sound. Tempo adjusts to the user's state: in the case of stress, the kettle steeps tea at a lower temperature to produce a relaxing brew or turns up the heat for more caffeinated beverage in the case of tiredness .“Traditional tea masters change tea brewing conditions by seeing or feeling the drinker’s mental and physical state," says co-founder and CEO Kazunori Kawanobe.

As the wellness movement continues to spread, the variety of teas has expanded to encompass exotic blends with beautiful packaging and grandiose health promises. People’s expectations of goods and services tailored to their unique needs have expanded to drinking experiences, and Teplo’s kettle harnesses AI to focus on people’s individual physical and mental states. "With the information they collect, they're able to brew a personalized cup of tea that the person can enjoy not only for its taste but for other factors such as intensity, sweetness, and warmth. Our goal with Teplo is to capture some of that ritual in a convenient, beautiful design that puts brewing control back into the drinker’s hands,” says Kawanobe.
