In a new campaign from Amazon, the one-stop shop retailer is easing parents' money woes by helping them get everything they need for the upcoming school year at an affordable price. As parents look for ways to cut spending, many are rethinking how they shop during the costly back-to-school season.
With inflation at a 40-year high, the Amazon campaign highlights how many parents are having to balance an expensive back-to-school season with the rising cost of living. But the playful ad also celebrates parents spending less on their kids, which will appeal to households that are looking to cut back on their spending as the cost of consumer goods continues to soar.
Returning to IRL learning can mean the need for new clothes and new school supplies, and according to Deloitte’s 2022 back-to-school survey US parents plan to spend on average $661 per child for back-to-school shopping this year - up 8% from 2021 and 27% from 2019.
Back-to-school shopping is the second largest spend for families annually, and as 33% of parents reported being in a worse financial situation in 2022 than the previous year, brands like Target are offering parents more affordable and accessible ways to save as well as increasing student and teacher savings for essentials.
