Who captured the zeitgeist in 2024?

With so much going on, it’s hard to keep track of endless shifts in relevance and to make sense of whether something truly is era-defining. Our Best of Insights awards recognises 20 products, people and campaigns that broke through and mattered – and analyses how they did it.

India Doyle

India Doyle is editorial director at Canvas8, helping brands to understand culture and their place in it. She leads a global editorial team to deliver strategic, actionable insights that keep Canvas8 members in tune with their audience. With over 10 years of experience as a culture and fashion journalist, India has contributed to the likes of SHOWStudio, Dazed and Confused, ekathimerini, Wonderland, and Dapper Dan magazine.

Leah Sinclair

Leah Sinclair is a commissioning editor at Canvas8 and freelance journalist whose bylines include Stylist Magazine, Grazia, Evening Standard, and more. She can usually be found binge-watching a new TV show or bar-hopping in London with a margarita in hand – on the rocks, of course.

Anastasiia Fedorova

Anastasiia Fedorova is a senior insights editor at Canvas8. A writer, curator and cultural strategist, she specialises in art, fashion, design, technology and visual culture. Her personal work explores sexuality, identity and queer communities while interrogating our place in a world shaped by rapidly changing technologies. As an avid sci-fi fan since teenage years, she is always interested in thinking about multiple and diverse futures.

Nicolas-Tyrell Scott

Nicolas-Tyrell Scott is a London-based music and culture journalist and speaker whose work has been published by GQ, Pitchfork, Dazed, Apple Music, and more. As a speaker, he’s been featured on the BBC, Channel 4, Wray and Nephew's YouTube, The Grapevine TV, No Signal, and the Over the Bridge podcast, and he has spoken at Soho House. In music, he has crafted assets for Mahalia, Adekunle Gold, Bru-C, and others and has an informed view on music that spans hip-hop, R&B, and emergent genres like drill, future sounds, and afro-swing. He's always sure to tie lineages to each before framing their futures.

Therese Reyes

Therese is Canvas8’s lead editor in the APAC region. She works with experts, journalists, and analysts to understand trends and make sense of them for clients across industries. She was previously editor of VICE Asia, where she led the team in winning a Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) award for Excellence in Arts & Culture Reporting. As a reporter, she covered current events, K-pop, global pop culture, life, and mental health. She’s spent time in Hong Kong but is now based in the Philippines, splitting her time between busy Manila and the mountain city Baguio.

Shom Mabaquiao

Shom Mabaquiao is a Junior Editor for APAC at Canvas8. He’s currently taking his master's in Social Psychology at the University of the Philippines, where he inspects universal human behaviour through the lenses of his local folkways. Outside Canvas8, he writes personal essays that have been published in Adelaide Literary Magazine, Tint Journal, Rappahannock Review, and Katitikan: Literary Journal of the Philippine South, among others. When he’s not working, he’s busy doing stand-up comedy for his therapist after cry-dancing to Taylor Swift.

Stefan Kelly

Stefan Kelly is a Senior Behavioural Analyst at Canvas8. Stefan has a background in behavioural science and psychology, and has spent most of his career researching how people form beliefs and make decisions. Now he spends most of his time trying to understand the interactions between identity, uncertainty and culture. After work, he's likely reading old psychiatry blogs, scouring 2nd hand clothing apps, or failing to get Arsenal tickets.

Bailey Bellingy

Bailey Bellingy is a behavioural analyst at Canvas8. After completing a BSc in social sciences, she joined the world of cultural insights. Throughout her degree, Bailey gained experience across social research methods, focusing on sociology, gender, and race studies. With experience on a range of qualitative projects, her practice focuses on incorporating diverse narratives. Outside of Canvas8, she can be found stocking up on Glossier or browsing Jane’s Patisserie for recipes.

Daniel Ian Comandante

Daniel Ian Comandante is a cultural desk researcher at Canvas8. As part of the Toolkit team, he unpacks consumer behaviour and the latest trends to help companies uncover unique insights. A graduate of De La Salle University, Manila, with a degree in marketing management, he has an extensive background in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and e-commerce marketing industries. He also has comprehensive experience in becoming a conduit between brands and consumers, forecasting retail, consumption, and global shopper trends. Outside of work, you can find him diving deep into his favourite directors’ filmography, reading books on pop culture and film, or taking long walks with his dog.
