Following the new religion movements in Japan from the 1960s to the 1980s that reinterpreted Shinto and Buddhism for a modern era, Millennials are now looking back to their spiritual roots. Young men and women are drawing inspiration from Japan’s ancient spiritual heritage.

Religious people can find that everything from ethical codes to long-term decisions are affected by their choice to believe. Yet despite the fact these belief systems hold such weight over those that adopt them, marketers and media outlets alike shy away from religion. Why?
