More emerging markets are connecting to the internet for the first time thanks to tech company KaiOS’ feature phone software. Bridging the gap between the call-and-text-only handsets and smartphones, KaiOS is giving developing countries a sophisticated, yet affordable browsing experience.

Google is the latest brand to join the e-payment fray in India, as it releases its e-wallet app, Tez. In a country that retired high-denomination notes in 2016, Google is one of several brands looking to help Indian people make transactions of any amount, as seamlessly as possible.

Since the demonetisation of certain Indian notes, mobile wallets like Paytm have thrived as an alternative for cash. But Paytm wants to expand beyond this role, and has launched Gamepind, a portal for finding, playing and paying for mobile games, to appeal to India’s growing mobile population.
