Research carried out by Canvas8 found that 

 read the Ts & Cs of digital services they use, while 

 in the US, UK, France and Germany are worried about how much data they have shared online. Nonetheless, 40% are still 

willing to trade their privacy for personalisation

 towards their online info, with one report classifying the country’s internet users as ‘digital voyagers’ who are more likely to give up their data if it makes for a convenient user experience. However, this leaves netizens vulnerable to the risk of fraud. This is in contrast to people from countries such as New Zealand, Japan, Australia or Singapore, who have been labelled ‘digital pragmatists’ and are more aware of the risk of fraud.

Organisations are quickly realising the importance of being fully transparent when it comes to privacy and stepping up as trustworthy ‘brand citizens’. 

 and Apple have both updated the privacy features for their browsers to assuage people’s digital worries, and other brands are taking steps to protect users 

. Some companies are even trying to capitalise on fears related to online data; 

 is positioning itself as a social network for those who prioritise privacy.
