How is jewellery adapting to secure a golden future?

From the crown jewels to hip hop chains, the jewellery industry has evolved with people’s relationships to wealth and power. Storied brands from Cartier to Bulgari are still major players – but as want for indulgence ramps up, how are jewellery brands adapting to a changing global landscape?

Michela Ferraro-Cuda

Michela Ferraro-Cuda is a jewellery designer and consultant, and the programme leader of the MA in Luxury Jewellery Management at Birmingham City University. Also a lecturer in Luxury Jewellery and Ethical Branding, her research area is focused on ethical, responsible and sustainable jewellery production.

Dr Sandra Wilson

Dr Sandra Wilson is a reader of Jewellery & Metal Design at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee and also co-editor of the new Journal of Jewellery Research. She is a contemporary jeweller and silversmith currently researching ways to recycle gold liquid from mobile phones.

Tacita Vero'

Tacita Vero is a journalist, maker and graduate from the London Consortium. Her main research interests are cycling culture, underground phenomena and alternative travelling, which have brought her to Abkhazia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Chernobyl.
