Marcelo Côrtes Neri is a Brazilian economist, the director of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas Social (FGV Social), and the founder of FGV’s Center of Social Policy. He holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University, as well as master’s and bachelor’s degrees from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He previously served as president of the federal government’s Institute for Applied Economic Research and was chief minister of strategic affairs for Brazil's presidency (2012-2014). His research is focused on social policies, education, and income inequality.
