2025 Expert Outlook on Technology

What’s next for AI development? Will Gen Alpha’s presence on social media be regulated, and how will they shape these spaces to their needs? How can brands prepare themselves for accelerated innovation? In this part of the 2025 Expert Outlook, we speak to four experts about the future of technology.

Payal Arora

Payal Arora is a digital anthropologist, a TEDx speaker, and an author of award-winning books including The Next Billion Users. Her expertise lies in user experience in the Global South and inclusive design. Several international media outlets have covered her work, including The BBC, The Economist, Quartz, TechCrunch, The Boston Globe, FAZ, The Nation, and CBC. Forbes named her the 'next billion champion' and the 'right kind of person to reform tech'. She has consulted for numerous organisations including Adobe, UNHCR, GE, HP, Interpol, UNDP, Spotify, and many others. She is a professor of Inclusive AI Cultures at Utrecht University and co-founder of FemLab, a future of work initiative.

Jules Terpak

A commentary-based content creator with an audience of over 220,000 on TikTok, Jules Terpak's platform is aimed at uplifting discussions about the future of media, tech, education, and work culture. She has worked with start-ups and Fortune 500 companies to help position their digital strategies and better understand the future of social media. She is a Commence 2030 Fellow's Choice Honoree for Civics Unplugged, a nonpartisan social enterprise that empowers Gen Z leaders to build a better future for humanity.

Tricia Wang

Tricia Wang is a tech ethnographer obsessed with designing equity into systems. Part data geek, part designer, and part community organiser, her belief that technology must serve humanity is the thread across her work from the public to the private sector. She is the co-founder of Sudden Compass, a consulting firm working with Fortune 500 companies and tech start-ups from Spotify to P&G and Google. She co-founded and is executive director of Crypto Research and Design Lab (CRADL), leading protocols and players to examine the implications of Web3 for citizens and consumers, and design solutions accordingly.

Christopher Lafayette

Christopher Lafayette is an emergent technologist and humanitarian deeply engaged in the sectors of the metaverse, AI, med-tech, education, Web3, and applied sciences. Gatherverse, a brainchild of Lafayette's, is an inspired response to an age of unprecedented technological growth. He saw a critical need to go beyond the technical aspects of creating the metaverse and emerging technologies to include humanity in the conversation about the intertwining of technology and the human experience.
