Inside the global phenomenon of anime-style gaming

Anime-style gaming – what was once meant to appeal to a subculture of people during the pandemic has since exploded into the mainstream, redefining the whole gaming industry. With a myriad of companies already in line to ride this great wave – how significant will this shift be?

Nappyraptor

Nappyraptor has been a cosplayer in Singapore since 2012. She has worked with various game titles like Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, and PUBG Mobile. She enjoys playing anime-style games and intertwining them with her communities by pushing the limits of what is humanly possible to recreate through cosplay.

Christina ‘xtmm’ Toh

A devoted gamer since 2006, Christina ‘xtmm’ Toh livestreams anime-style games to her 200,000 Facebook followers. She also transformed her passion for games by founding Team Salty, a gaming marketing agency.

Man Yong Le

Man Yong Le is a versatile professional with a background in journalism, marketing, and event management. As a former broadcast journalist at Channel NewsAsia, Yong Le honed his storytelling skills and gained valuable experience in the media industry – which includes coverage of Dota 2’s premier competition, The International. He was also involved in the dynamic world of esports, working as a branding and marketing specialist at Cyberathlete Pte. Ltd. There, he led a team in promoting Cyberathlete Collegiate Mobile Legends 2022, a Southeast Asian collegiate esports competition. In his leisure time, he's an avid content creator, live-streaming on Twitch, producing gaming videos on YouTube, and indulging in music covers with his band using Ableton.
